ABOUT GLORY CHINAECHEREM UZOIGWE
I’m the Managing Director of Cheersandsunshine Nig Ltd, Nigeria’s leading maternal and child superstore, and the Founder of Wholesome Maternal Nutrition, where I provide personalised nutrition and health coaching. I help mothers and families make informed choices around maternal nutrition, child health, and neurodivergent support, combining practical strategies with evidence-based guidance.
I feel proud and motivated by this work. Watching mothers adopt healthier habits, children thrive, and families feel empowered is what drives everything I do.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PERSUE A CAREER IN NUTRITION AND HEALTH COACHING OR NUTRITIONAL THERAPY?
My journey into Nutrition and Health Coaching began from both personal passion and professional experience. As a mother of three, I was deeply committed to creating a healthy lifestyle for my children. At the same time, through Cheersandsunshine Nigeria Ltd, which has supplied quality baby essentials locally and internationally for over six years, I interacted closely with families and mothers.
During our workshops and community engagements, we repeatedly encountered concerns around nutrition, misdiagnosis, autism, nutrient deficiencies, and general child health. Many mothers had questions but lacked structured support or professional guidance. With Africa ranking among the regions with the highest levels of malnutrition, each interaction strengthened my conviction that more expert-led support was needed.
My background in Microbiology also played a key role. Understanding the intersection between food, microorganisms, and health made it clear to me that becoming a Nutrition and Health Coach was the natural next step. I wanted to move from passion to professional expertise.
Can you describe a memorable experience or achievement since graduating?
One of my most memorable experiences since graduating was serving as the keynote speaker during the 2025 World Breastfeeding Week. The theme was “Prioritise Breastfeeding, Create Sustainable Support Systems.”
Alongside the team from the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, we conducted community outreach at General Hospital Ajeromi, Ajegunle, Lagos State, an area with one of the highest records of malnutrition. We educated mothers on breastfeeding, maternal nutrition, malnutrition prevention, and other key health issues.
Being entrusted with the keynote address was deeply fulfilling because this is the work I am passionate about. It aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 3, Zero Hunger and Good Health and Wellbeing, and reinforces the importance of tackling these issues at the grassroots level.
Watching the mothers embrace healthier practices and seeing them actively engage during the sessions is an experience I will always cherish. It strengthened my resolve to continue grassroots sensitisation and community advocacy.
How has your training influenced your approach to health and wellness?
This training has equipped me with the tools and resources to interpret research and food labels more effectively. It has deepened my understanding that nutrition works hand in hand with lifestyle change.
I now approach health more holistically. Sustainable wellness is not about quick fixes, it is about balanced, nutritious meals, regular exercise, and intentional lifestyle adjustments. True health comes from integrating all these elements consistently.
How have you seen your work positively impact others?
I have witnessed tremendous improvements in my clients’ health and overall lifestyles. Seeing families make informed dietary changes has been incredibly rewarding.
I am particularly passionate about supporting neurodivergent children. Watching them grow, thrive, and improve through tailored nutritional strategies has been one of the most impactful aspects of my journey. Their progress continues to inspire me to support even more families.
What’s been the most unexpected or exciting part of your journey so far?
One of the most profound realisations I have had is that there is no final destination in nutrition and holistic wellness. The field is constantly evolving.
Every day brings new research, discoveries, and insights about our ecosystem, food systems, and human health. From nutritional therapy to clinical nutrition and dietetics, there is always something new to explore. That ongoing evolution keeps me excited and committed to lifelong learning.
What would you say to someone thinking about studying with IINH?
IINH is not just a school, it is a family.
If you are truly enthusiastic about learning and making an impact in health and wellness, IINH should be your first consideration. You will feel seen, heard, and supported. In many ways, that supportive environment reflects exactly what health and wellness are all about.
