Student Spotlight: Ayisha Lightbourne

About Ayisha Lightbourne

I’ve always been passionate about health and wellbeing, and over the years, I became particularly interested in how evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle support could improve quality of life for those living with chronic conditions. That interest turned into something more—something I wanted to build into a career. I knew I needed a solid foundation, and that’s what led me to study at IINH.

Tell us a little about yourself and what you were doing before the course.

Before I started studying with IINH, I completed a master’s in Public Health where I specialised in health promotion, enabling me to investigate, evaluate and address public health challenges. I’ve always had a deep interest in how nutrition and lifestyle affect the body, particularly for people living with chronic conditions, like endometriosis. My passion for women’s health has driven me to publish research in the field, which you can read here.

What made you decide to study Nutrition and Health Coaching?

I wanted to expand my knowledge of nutrition and learn how I could support others to address their own specific goals. IINH’s focus on evidence-based learning really stood out to me. It offered the opportunity to understand not only the “what” and “why” of nutrition, but also how to work with people in a real-world, supportive way.

What did you enjoy most about the course?

The blend of coaching and science was exactly what I needed. I particularly valued learning how to meet clients where they are and support them without judgment. The course gave me a practical framework to help others create lasting change in their own lives.

What are you doing now?

I now run Nourished with Ayisha, where I work one-to-one with clients to help them reconnect with their bodies, reduce stress and fatigue, and improve their overall wellbeing. I am dedicated to empowering women to take control of all aspects of their health and well-being and honour their bodies and goals in a way that works for them.

One highlight of my work so far was supporting a client who wanted to prepare her body for pregnancy. We worked together on her goals, and six months after our sessions ended, I received the most heart-warming message—she was five months pregnant. Helping women reach their goals, no matter how big or small, is what I love most about what I do.

What advice would you give someone considering studying at IINH?

If you’re curious, trust that instinct. The course is practical, evidence-based, and incredibly empowering. It gave me the tools and confidence to turn my passion into a purposeful career—and to help others live healthier, more connected lives.
