There has been an escalation in children considered ‘neurodivergent’ which includes ‘autistic’. In Northern Ireland the recent school census have 5% as autistic while, in Scotland, one in 14 boys are classified as autistic. Why? Also, can some symptoms be improved or even reversed? Can autism and neurodivergence be prevented?
Patrick Holford is presenting a practitioner-level seminar to give essential tools for both minimising risk in parents and helping neurodivergent children, including ADHD and autism.
This 4 hour seminar (with a break) will discuss:
• Methylation and homocysteine-lowering B vitamins and the vital role it plays in neurodevelopment, in both pregnant mothers and their children.
• Brain fats, from omega-3 and omega-6, phospholipids and vitamin D and the vital role it plays in neurodevelopment, in both pregnant mothers and their children.
• Sugar and especially fructose and how and why too much acts as a neurotoxin.
• Oxidants and polyphenols and why they are neuroprotective and what to eat and supplement and the essentiality of the glutathione-ascorbate cycle.
• Anti-nutrients and environmental toxins – how to identify and eliminate and detoxify them.
• The gut-brain superhighway and the importance of the gut microbiome on brain function.
• The role of active and interactive play, exercise and social engagement and why early smart phone use and social media is creating a generation of anxious children.
Patrick will also explain the COGNITION for Smart Kids & Teens project and how you, as a practitioner, can get involved, build your knowledge and become an Ambassador for Smart Kids & Teens.
We have allocated plenty of time for a post seminar Q&A with the audience.
